RIO GRANDE DO SUL: SOYBEAN HARVEST REACHES 94% OF THE AREA; CORN REACHES 93%

In Rio Grande do Sul, the soybean harvest for 2023-24 achieved 94% of the crops, up 3% in a week despite adverse weather. The remaining lands are mostly located in the state’s southern part. Harvesting the beans has been challenging due to their high moisture content and the plants’ small height. The corn harvest has reached 93%, but moisture and fog have reduced grain quality. In Serra, Campos de Cima da Serra, Central, and Campanha, fungus and mycotoxins make commercialization impossible. The rice harvest is nearly over, with yields varying owing to rains and strong winds, but prices remain high.
