RIO GRANDE DO SUL ANNOUNCES BRL 201 MILLION FOR FAMILY FARMING

The Rio Grande do Sul government invested BRL 201.2 million in the Agrofamily Program to boost family farming and agricultural industrialization, especially in flood-prone areas. The program spends BRL 112.9 million on powdered milk from local cooperatives, supporting around 104.5 thousand underprivileged children. A further BRL 30 million will be invested in milk production. The program also provides amnesty and seed subsidies, including BRL 16 million for hybrids and transgenics, benefiting thousands of farmers. An additional BRL 20 million will be invested in affected industries. Fetag-RS underlined the government’s support for sector goals, including powdered milk purchases to boost local manufacturing.
