The cargo throughput registered at the ports managed by port authority Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro (CDRJ), which includes the ports of Rio de Janeiro, Itaguaí, Niterói, and Angra dos Reis, reached the 40 million tonnes mark from January to August in 2022. In August alone, these ports saw the passage of 5.6 million tonnes of cargo, the third largest volume handled in the year, reinforcing that the state has entered a recovery period in cargo handling in the 2nd quarter of 2022. The company’s global performance was positively impacted by the volume of cargo at the Port of Rio de Janeiro, which, from January to August, handled 6.8 million tonnes, a figure 12.2% higher than that recorded in the same period in 2021.
