The Port of Santos handled 137.4 million tons between January and September 2024; this is a 7.7% rise over 2023 and its best historical total. While shipments grew by 6.5% (102 million tons), landing jumped by 11.2% (35.4 million tons). Record 4 million TEU (a 15.8% increase) drove container handling to rise by 21.6% to 44.4 million tons. While diesel oil and gasoline imports surged by 9.8% and 40.7% respectively, sugar exports climbed by 33%. With China as the main partner, Santos also increased its share of the Brazilian trade flow to 28.7%. With 4,182 moorings, 142 more than last year, the port shows infrastructural and capacity improvement till September.
