The ports of Paraná achieved unprecedented handling volumes in August 2025, with a record 7.07 million tons representing a 3% increase over the same period in 2024. The cumulative volume from January to August also reached a historic high of 48.64 million tons, a 5% rise, projecting an annual total exceeding 70 million tons. Corn was the standout, with 833 thousand tons sold (+1,043% in the month and +261% for the year). Containerized cargoes (+11%), vegetable oil (+19% in the month, +50% for the year), petroleum products (+74%), cellulose (+58% in the month), and bagged sugar (+7%) all increased. Imports remained constant in August, but increased by 5% year on year, led by solvent components (+34%), petroleum products (+16%), barley (+87%), and fertilizers (+10%). According to port management, the advances reflect infrastructure upgrades and an increase in draft.
