Recife Port will undergo a R$ 10 million upgrade to its passenger terminal, with the auction for the works scheduled for the second half of 2025. The project aims to expand cruise ship reception capacity and boost tourism in Pernambuco. In the last season, the port welcomed 19 cruise ships and over 30,000 passengers, a figure the federal government expects to increase to 50,000 annually after modernization. Authorities, including the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, and TCU Minister Augusto Nardes, emphasized that the initiative will drive the local economy, create jobs, and strengthen the terminal’s role as a key gateway for international tourism in the state.
