PRODUCERS FORECAST 6% INCREASE IN SOYBEAN HARVEST AREA

September 16 marks the start of the 2024–2025 soybean harvest planting in Mato Grosso do Sul following the cessation of the sanitary vacuum. The season will be formally kicked off by Aprosoja/MS at a Famasul System event. The planted area is expected to grow 6%, but the weather remains a challenge for producers. A 3-million-ton decline in the previous crop caused a BRL 12 billion impact on the industry. Notwithstanding the challenges, demand from abroad could raise prices for the 2024–2025 harvest; a bag of soybeans is expected to cost between BRL 120 and BRL 130.
