PR 2025/26 HARVEST: SOYBEAN AND CORN PLANTINGS GAIN PACE

Between September 2–8, Paraná’s Department of Rural Economy (Deral) reported the acceleration of preparations for summer planting (2025/26) as winter crops near completion (2024/25). Soybean producers resumed soil preparation after the sanitary drought, with sowing already starting in some areas. Summer corn planting also advanced, while the second crop harvest was practically completed, with yields meeting or exceeding expectations despite frosts. Beans, irrigated rice, and potatoes showed steady progress, though potato prices remain low. Wheat suffered localized frost losses but good areas should offset them; oats and barley are at varied stages. Coffee and sugarcane harvests near their end, with sugarcane yields on track despite rain shortages in new areas. Cassava, vegetables, and parsley continue, though low cassava prices discourage farmers. Pastures face drought damage, reducing livestock feed, while pine harvesting slows due to weaker U.S. demand. Tobacco transplanting gained pace in Paraná’s South and Southwest.
