PR 2024/25 HARVEST: CORN SHOULD BE HARVESTED BY THE END OF AUGUST

The second 2024/25 corn crop in Paraná has reached 74% of its 2.77 million hectares, with harvest expected to finish in August, contributing to a state production of 17 million tons and supporting Brazil’s projected 131.9 million tons, led by Mato Grosso’s 51 million tons. Cassava harvest surpassed half of the 150.1 thousand hectares, with a projected record 4.2 million tons, yet prices fell below production costs, averaging under R$500/ton in early August. The second potato harvest is nearly complete, with 91% harvested and most remaining crops in good condition. Retail prices for smooth potatoes rose 30.9% from June to July, reaching R$4.07/kg, though still 53% lower than July 2024’s average of R$8.67/kg. Weather conditions have generally supported crop progress, but price pressures continue to challenge producers across key Paraná commodities.
