Porto Piauí will begin commercial operations in 2025 by loading and unloading marine fertilizer, a natural sediment rich in calcium, phosphate, and magnesium utilized in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics sectors. The terminal, which has a 150-meter dock, is seeking permission from the Navy, Antaq, and Semarh. Three firms have already shown interest in exploring the input, with operations set to begin in the fourth quarter of this year. The material will be taken in by coastal vessels and processed at the Parnaíba EPZ. The coast of Piauí is projected to have a resource of 2 billion tons of fertilizer, sufficient to supply regional agribusiness for years and open new industrial avenues.
