Porto Itapoá achieved a significant milestone in September 2023, with its highest volume of imports for the year, totaling 12,891 containers, the second-best result in its history, surpassed only by March 2021, when it handled 13,129 containers. Imports were driven by sectors such as machinery and components (30% of the total), metallurgy and steel (24%), plastics and their products (23%), and chemicals (23%). China accounted for 83% of the imports in September, followed by Chile (10%) and India (7%). The month was also notable for crossdocking export operations, with a record of 2,218 containers handled, streamlining the process for customers. Porto Itapoá started the second half of 2023 by setting monthly records for cargo movement, with a 10% growth compared to the previous year.
