PORT OF SÃO SEBASTIÃO BREAKS ALL-TIME RECORD FOR CARGO THROUGHPUT

The Port of São Sebastião achieved a record cargo throughput of 760 thousand tonnes in the first half of the year, marking a 57% increase from 2023. Key cargos included bulk sugar (287.5 thousand tons), bulk soda ash (190.3 thousand tons), and bulk petroleum coke (107.5 thousand tons). The growth is attributed to expanded storage facilities, attracting more importers and exporters. Improvements at the port include a renovated control center, paved storage yards, an automated access system, and enhanced security. The port’s strategic location near major transport routes and infrastructure upgrades, such as the São Sebastião belt ring, facilitate access. The port also joined the Brazilian Alliance for Port Decarbonization, offering tariff discounts for eco-friendly vessels.
