The Port Authority of Santos (APS) is considering public-private partnerships (PPPs) to handle administrative work to free up management time to administer the port. The project includes infrastructure, works, and maintenance, following public-private industry partnerships. Even though some services have been given, APS president Anderson Pomini believes the port should stay under state control for strategic reasons. APS also works on BRL 22 billion infrastructure and modernization projects such as the Santos-Guarujá Tunnel, port channel restorations, and the VTMIS marine traffic management system. By making Santos one of Latin America’s logistical hubs, the project seeks to blend economic efficiency and governmental oversight.
