During the grain harvest season, truck traffic at the Port of Santos increases from 3,000 to 15,000 vehicles daily, as it exports soybeans and corn to 70 countries. With Brazil’s 2024/2025 harvest estimated at 322.3 million tons, authorities are working to avoid logistical bottlenecks. Santos is the main export hub, handling 95% of soybeans, corn, and cotton. Weather in northern Brazil, like droughts or heavy rain, could divert cargo to Santos, increasing pressure during peak months (March-June). While the truck scheduling system helps, congestion and port access remain challenges, compounded by upcoming construction in the Alemoa district.
