Brazil’s subsidiary of Stolthaven Terminals built its own nitrogen plant last month in partnership with the company White Martins. The initiative, the first of its kind in the Brazilian port market, will allow greater control over production and enhance security in liquid bulk operations at the company’s facilities in the Port of Santos. Nitrogen acts as a pressure stabilizer and equalizer, fundamental in storing, loading, and unloading liquids in port terminals. Until last month, the company relied on external gas supplies. Stolthaven will now provide its own nitrogen needs at purity levels above 98%, effectively serving the majority of its terminal’s total tanking capacity of 150 thousand cubic meters in Santos.
