PORT OF RIO GRANDE TOPS BRAZIL’S PUBLIC PORT GROWTH IN MAY

In May 2025, the Port of Rio Grande experienced the highest growth rate among Brazil’s public ports, handling 2.5 million ton, a 46.86% increase over May 2024. This recovery comes one year after Rio Grande do Sul’s greatest climatic disaster, which crippled logistics. The performance confirms its status as one of the top terminals tracked by ANTAQ. Brazilian ports achieved a new monthly high of 118.4 million tons (+ 6.94%), driven by increases in dry bulk (73.4 million tons) and containerized cargo (13 million tons). Between January and May, Rio Grande handled 16.1 million tons (+9.86%). According to Cristiano Klinger, president of Portos RS, this development represents mutual recovery efforts and demonstrates the port’s key importance in foreign trade.
