Vessels with a greater cargo capacity will circulate more easily through the Port of Recife in Pernambuco following the completion of dredging. This work is conducted by the Federal Government’s Ministry of Infrastructure in collaboration with the state government of Pernambuco, which increased the depth in the port’s region. The service contract included dredging operations in the Port of Recife, initial and final hydrographic studies, and executive project preparation for a total expenditure of R$ 27.9 million. Such a measure favors cargo flow and, consequently, encourages import and export operations for national and foreign cargo. The port is part of the Mercosur navigation route and other prominent international service lines.
