PORT OF PARANAGUÁ ACCESS CHANNEL TO BE AUCTIONED THIS WEDNESDAY

Brazil will hold an unprecedented auction this Wednesday (22) for the Access Channel of the Port of Paranaguá, allowing a private company to manage it under a 25-year concession. The winning bidder must invest R$ 1.23 billion in the first five years to deepen the channel from 13.3 to 15.5 meters, enabling ships to carry about 14,000 more tonnes per trip. The auction, organized by ANTAQ at B3 in São Paulo, will prioritize companies offering the biggest discount on the Inframar fee, which covers dredging costs. Once improvement milestones are met, the concessionaire can collect the full tariff. The project includes dredging, rock removal, and modernization efforts. Approved by the TCU, this model will guide future port access concessions in Santos, Itajaí, Bahia, and Rio Grande.
