Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced the commencement of dredging operations in the São Lourenço Canal during a ceremony in Niterói. This collaboration between the Federal Government and the Municipality of Niterói aims to enhance access to the city’s Industrial and Port Complex. By increasing the depth of the area from 7 to 11 meters, the dredging project will facilitate shipyard operations, support vessel construction, and strengthen the repair and offshore sectors. This initiative is expected to create approximately 20,000 direct and indirect jobs. Investments totaling R$ 140 million from the federal government and R$ 138 million from the municipality are allocated for the project and related developments, including the revitalization of the Blue Economy segment.
