PORT OF ITAQUI MOVE FORWARD WITH DECARBONIZATION EFFORTS

The Port of Itaqui, in collaboration with Valenciaport, has completed the diagnostic phase of its comprehensive decarbonization plan, making it the first public port in Brazil to implement such an initiative. This phase involved detailed mapping of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the port complex. The results were presented to the Maranhense Port Administration Company (Emap) and discussed with port operators and stakeholders. The plan aims to significantly reduce GHG emissions, promoting sustainability and enhancing cargo competitiveness. Supported by the Valenciaport Foundation, the next steps involve detailed planning and investment actions. This pioneering effort aligns with global emission reduction goals and sets a precedent for other ports and companies in the sector.
