The Port of Itaqui observed a major achievement this week by welcoming its one-thousandth ship in 2023, an unprecedented feat. The vessel behind this milestone is the Genco Bourgogne, which docked at Berth 101 at 3:30 am last Tuesday, the 13th. The ship proves the port’s logistical prowess under the Maranhão Port Administration Company (EMAP). As one of Brazil’s key ports in the Northern Arc, the Port of Itaqui saw a throughput of over 33 million tonnes of cargo last year. This year is even more promising, on track to surpass 36 million tonnes. It stands out in the country for its liquid and solid bulk operations.
