The Port of Itajaí saw a record 1,686% cargo volume increase in the first half of 2025, handling 1.86 million tonnes — a strong recovery after prior inactivity at the public quay and JBS-leased area. Export and import volumes were nearly balanced, and in June alone, over 379,000 tonnes were handled. Including private terminals like Portonave and Teporti, the full port complex moved 7.1 million tonnes between January and June, up 6% from 2024. Container operations have surged since JBS resumed management in October 2024. A total of 610 vessels were serviced in the semester. The port’s growth reflects Brazil’s broader trend, with national cargo movement hitting 532 million tonnes from January to May 2025, already surpassing all of 2024.
