PORT OF ITAJAÍ GROWS 1,494% IN THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF 2025

In the first half of 2025, the Port of Itajaí saw a dramatic 1,494% surge in cargo volume, moving 1.7 million tons, as reported by Antaq. Managed by JBS Terminais since October 2024, the port’s operations were dominated by containerized goods (85%), including key commodities like meat, wood, plastics, animal feed, and machinery. Exports skyrocketed by 8,599%, primarily destined for China, followed by the USA, the European Union, and Latin America. Imports also grew significantly by 496%, mainly originating from China, the USA, the EU, and Mercosur. JBS has invested BRL 130 million in the terminal since taking over and plans an additional BRL 90 million for technology and infrastructure upgrades. With a 1,030-meter quay, four berths, a 14-meter draft, and 1,750 reefer outlets, the port is now a strategic foreign trade hub equipped to handle large vessels with a focus on refrigerated cargo.
