The agro-industrial cooperative of sugarcane suppliers (Coaf), located in Timbaúba (PE), has been breaking production records. For the current harvest, it is expected to crush 900 thousand tons of sugarcane in February 2023. Sugar production is expected to reach 54,5 thousand tons, up from 17,1 thousand tons in the previous cycle. The production of cachaça is expected to double, going from 14.5 million liters to 30 million. Hydrous ethanol, in turn, will have a significant reduction. The unit lowered the forecast to 5 million liters, while the last harvest produced 40 million liters. The biofuels bet will be more important on anhydrous ethanol, which should reach around 15 million liters.
