PETROBRAS TO DRILL NEW WELLS AND RESTART FERTILIZER PRODUCTION

Petrobras has launched operations in São Sebastião do Passé as part of a strategy to drill 100 new wells across multiple cities over the next five years. This expansion will boost onshore production and nearly double active rigs from 13 to 23. Currently employing 4,300 workers in Bahia, Petrobras produces 17,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and contributed BRL 257 million in state taxes last year. The firm has also restarted fertilizer plants in Bahia and Sergipe following a contract renewal with Proquigel. The reactivation aligns with Petrobras’ 2025-2029 business plan, reinforcing its focus on oil, gas, and fertilizers amid the global energy transition.
