The state government of Ceará has confirmed the expansion of the Pecém Port Complex, including plans for constructing two offshore piers. The expansion project will focus on creating ripe conditions for grain exports and the creation of renewable energy with wind farms off the Port of Pecém. The head of the Secretariat for Economic Development and Labor (Sedet), Maia Jr., highlights that the Ceará is working on making the two new piers viable to meet the increased export demand in the grain market and the infrastructure need for clean energy generation parks to drive the creation of the green hydrogen hub. The first of a series of structural adjustments to the Port of Pecém should come equipped with all due mechanisms to treat, load, unload, and store grains, including large barrels.
