PARTIAL TRADE DATA REVEAL USD 3.87 BILLION SURPLUS FOR BRAZIL

Up to the third week of June 2024, Brazil’s trade balance showed a surplus of US$ 756 million, with a total trade flow of US$ 12.9 billion. This included exports worth US$ 6.82 billion and imports of US$ 6.06 billion. From January to mid-June 2024, exports reached US$ 159.6 billion, and imports totaled US$ 119.8 billion, resulting in a surplus of US$ 39.8 billion and a trade flow of US$ 279.5 billion, as reported by the Foreign Trade Secretariat of MDIC. Monthly comparisons indicate exports decreased by 1.6%, while imports grew by 21.4%. Sectoral performance showed growth in agriculture (4.9%) and the extractive industry (3.3%), with a decline in manufacturing (6.1%). Import trends highlighted substantial increases in agriculture (66.8%), the extractive industry (6.0%), and manufacturing (21.9%).
