PARANAGUÁ’S MOEGÃO PORT PROJECT 67% COMPLETE, TO BOOST GRAIN RAIL CAPACITY BY 2026

The Moegão, Brazil’s largest public port infrastructure project at the Port of Paranaguá, has reached 67% overall completion and is set for delivery in December 2025, with operations starting in early 2026. Designed to unload 180 railcars every five hours and handle up to 24 million tonnes of grains and meal annually, the facility will connect 11 terminals, streamline rail operations, and cut city rail crossings from 16 to 5. With R$650 million invested by the Paraná government and BNDES financing, plus over R$2 billion from lessees and the state for future expansions, the Moegão will triple ship loading speeds at the Eastern Export Corridor (Corex) to 8,000 tonnes per hour. It will centralize railcar unloading, reduce bottlenecks, and support new leased terminals, making Paranaguá a key hub for Brazil’s agribusiness exports.
