PARANAGUÁ PORT ACCESS CHANNEL CONCESSION TO RECEIVE $1.23 BILLION IN INVESTMENT

Brazil’s federal government unveiled a BRL 1.23 billion, 25-year concession for the access channel to the Port of Paranaguá, marking the country’s first such project. Led by Ports and Airports Minister Silvio Costa Filho, the initiative includes dredging and infrastructure management, with plans to deepen the draft to 15.5 meters, enabling larger vessels and boosting cargo capacity. A key logistics hub for agribusiness, the port is expected to reduce costs and strengthen export flows from southern and central-western Brazil. Complementing this, the nearly completed Moegão rail project—backed by over BRL 500 million from Brazilian Development Bank—will increase rail capacity by 60%, enhancing efficiency and integration between rail and port operations.
