PARANÁ WANTS TO INCREASE IRRIGATED AREA IN THE STATE BY 20%, WITH INVESTMENTS OF R$ 200 MILLION

Paraná plans to increase its irrigated area by 20%, from 170,000 hectares to 205,000 hectares, which represents 3% of the state’s planted area. To achieve this, the Irriga Paraná program will allocate R$200 million, with R$150 million designated for credit lines to install irrigation systems. Of this amount, R$78 million will go to the Banco do Agricultor Paranaense, R$42 million to the Banco Regional de Desenvolvimento do Extremo Sul (BRDE), and R$30 million to the Fundo de Equipamento Agropecuário do Paraná (Feap). Additionally, a specific BRDE credit line with interest subsidies of 7% to 12% per year is planned. The government will also provide direct subsidies to family farmers for irrigation systems, covering up to 80% of project costs, limited to R$20,000.
