PARANÁ SHOULD FINISH CORN HARVEST IN EARLY AUGUST IF THE WEATHER FAVORS, SAYS DERAL

Paraná’s second corn harvest in 2024 is progressing at record speed and could be completed by early August, according to the Department of Rural Economy (Deral). Over 75% has been harvested, thanks to early planting. However, dry and hot weather, especially in the west and northwest, has reduced the expected yield to just under 13 million tons, slightly below the previous estimate of 12.95 million tons—a 9% decrease from last year. Recent rains have mitigated further losses, but the main impacts of the adverse weather are already set. Deral will update the final figures on July 25th.
