NORTHERN ARC PORTS HANDLE NEARLY 50% OF NATIONAL CORN EXPORTS

Antaq reports that the Nothern Arc private ports handled 52.3 million tons of soybeans and corn for export in 2024. There were 18.4 million tons of corn (47.4% of total national production) and 34.4 million tons of soybeans (35.3%), outpacing all other routes in Brazil, including Santos. Emphasizing the need of activities like dredging the Tapajós River to minimize navigational effects, the industry kept flourishing despite the extreme drought. Over the next five years, Amport’s president, Flávio Acatauassú, wants to boost port capacity to 100 million tons so guaranteeing competitiveness.
