NORTH REGION PORTS SURGE 31%, HANDLING 12.6 MILLION TONS IN OCTOBER

In October 2025, the ports of Northern Brazil moved 12.6 million tons of cargo, a 31.46% increase compared to the 10.2 million tons handled in October 2024. This growth was primarily fueled by inland navigation, which reached 7.4 million tons, a rise of 25.28% year-on-year. Cabotage shipping grew by 26.71%, handling 872 thousand tons, while long-haul navigation increased by 19.22% to 4.4 million tons. The main commodities were corn, with 3.8 million tons, and bauxite, with 1.9 million tons. The Port of Vila do Conde (PA) led regional activity, handling 1.8 million tons during the month.
