MINISTRY SUBMITS CONCESSION MODEL FOR PORTS AND WATERWAYS IN RIO GRANDE DO SUL

Brazil’s Ministry of Ports and Airports submitted to ANTAQ the concession project for the Integrated Waterway System of Rio Grande do Sul ports and Lagoa Mirim, with planned investments of R$134 million. It is the first proposal to unify port access channels and inland waterways under a single model. The project covers access routes to the ports of Rio Grande, Pelotas and Porto Alegre, as well as sections of Lagoa dos Patos and key regional rivers. The concession aims to ensure continuous investment, regular dredging and maintained operational depth, expanding capacity for larger vessels. The Port of Rio Grande handled 31.6 million tons last year.
