The Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, announced the first port auction of 2024 during a technical visit to Recife. The auction is scheduled for August and will take place at B3 in São Paulo. A total of BRL 60 million will be available for three auctions. The areas being auctioned are REC08 (vegetable dry bulk), REC09 (general cargo and dry bulk), and REC10 (general cargo and dry bulk). The Port of Recife saw a 43% increase in port handling in the first four months of 2024. Costa Filho mentioned that BRL 120 million will be invested in dredging the port to improve its competitiveness. The vice-governor of Pernambuco, Priscila Krause, expects an increase of 25% to 30% in the port’s handling with the concessions.
