MINISTER SILVIO COSTA FILHO JOINS PRESIDENT IN INAUGURATING PROJECTS AND UNVEILING INVESTMENTS FOR RIO DE JANEIRO PORTS

The newly inaugurated GNA II Thermoelectric Power Plant at Port of Açu (Rio de Janeiro) has commenced operations with a generation capacity of 1.7 gigawatt, sufficient to power approximately 8 million households. As Brazil’s largest and most efficient natural gas facility, the BRL 7 billion project created 10,000 jobs during construction. The Port of Açu, a strategic energy hub handling half of Brazil’s natural gas imports, has drawn over BRL 60 billion in private investments to date and supports more than 30,000 indirect jobs. In a related development, regulators have approved an additional BRL 275.3 million investment for the port’s Maritime Fuel Terminal (Tecma).
