MILLING IN THE NORTH-NORTHEAST GROWS 5.8% IN THE ACCUMULATED HARVEST UNTIL SEPTEMBER 15

Sugarcane mills in Brazil’s North and Northeast regions processed 12.31 million tons in the 2024/25 harvest season through September 15, a 5.8% increase from last year, per NovaBio. This accounts for about 19% of the harvest. Sugar production rose 31.5% to over 422,000 tons, with an estimated 3.64 million tons expected for the year, a 5.2% increase. Hydrous ethanol production grew by 23.4% to 376 million liters, while anhydrous ethanol dropped 28.7% to 250 million liters. NovaBio expects total ethanol production to rise by 2.6%, reaching 2.28 billion liters by season’s end, with a 5.6% increase for hydrous ethanol and a 0.7% decrease for anhydrous.
