MATO GROSSO DO SUL REGISTERS 31% SURGE IN GRAIN PRODUCTION FOR 2024-25 HARVEST

Mato Grosso do Sul is forecast to achieve a record grain output of 27.79 million tons in 2024-25, a significant 31% rise from the last season, as reported by Conab. This growth was fueled by a 2.2% expansion in planted area and a substantial 28.2% jump in productivity, which rose to 4,183 kg/ha. The state’s primary crop, soybeans, saw a 12.9% increase to 14.2 million tons, whereas corn production surged 54.6% to 12.49 million. Sorghum recorded the largest proportional gain, skyrocketing 137.8% to 564 thousand tons. Other expanding crops include cotton, peanuts, and rice. This result reinforces the state’s position as a leader in Brazilian agriculture, thanks to its productive diversification and favorable conditions that led to significant increase in crop yields.
