MATO GROSSO DO SUL EMERGES AS AN EPICENTER OF BRAZIL’S BIOMETHANE REVOLUTION

Mato Grosso do Sul is strengthening its position as a clean energy leader by advancing biomethane derived from sugarcane vinasse, which is emerging as a sustainable diesel replacement for heavy transport. During an event organized by Biosul and ZEG Biogás with support from Agems and Fiems, specialists and authorities highlighted the state’s potential for drawing investments, pointing to its plentiful feedstocks, established infrastructure, and advantageous regulatory framework. Adecoagro’s local plant, noted as a national benchmark for energy efficiency, innovation, and cutting emissions, was recognized as the first in the region to produce biomethane.
