MAPA CALLS FOR TRADE BARRIER REDUCTION AMONG COUNTRIES IN AMERICA

At the 44th Regular Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in Costa Rica, the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) stressed the importance of regional cooperation for sustainable development and agricultural trade in the Americas. As part of Brazil’s G20 agenda, Trade and International Relations Secretary Roberto Perosa underlined the need to reduce trade barriers and encourage sustainable practices. After the event, the Brazilian group visited Guatemala to explore expanding the Guatemalan market for Brazilian poultry meat and dairy products with Deputy Minister of Agricultural Health Marissa Eugenia Montepeque. New export opportunities should boost the countries’ economic partnership.
