MAJOR INVESTMENT OF BRL I.1 BILLION TO EXPAND GRAIN TERMINAL AT PORT OF ITAQUI

The expansion of Maranhão Grain Terminal (Tegram), which is set to cost BRL 1.1 billion, will increase the yearly handling capacity of the Port of Itaqui from 15 million to 23.5 million tons, with a particular emphasis on soybeans, corn, and soybean meal. A new docking berth will suit the needs of agricultural enterprises in Maranhão, Piauí, Tocantins, and other locations. The Tegram-Itaqui Consortium port is a leader in environmental policy thanks to its electric fleet, ethanol use, and delivery of renewable energy to ships. With Antaq’s approval still needed, the initiative solidifies Itaqui as the primary exit for Arco Norte. Carlos Brandão, the governor, emphasized the commitment to exports and sustainability.
