JACAREZINHO MILL INVESTS BRL 25 MILLION TO INCREASE SUGAR PRODUCTION

The Maringá Group’s Jacarezinho Mill in northern Paraná plans to invest BRL 25 million to increase its sugar-producing capacity. The goal of this investment is to enhance production mix flexibility. Currently, 57% of the raw material is used to make sugar, while 43% is utilized to make ethanol. The 2024-25 harvest will see a change in the mix to 70% sugar and 30% ethanol due to the predicted higher profitability of sugar in the coming years. To reach this aim, the mill will acquire new equipment, such as pre-evaporators and centrifuges, to assist in raising sugar output from 23,000 to 30,000 bags per day. By April 2024, the new equipment is projected to be operational. Likewise, the investment will boost manufacturing efficiency and prepare the mill for sugarcane crushing expansion.
