On December 1, Itaqui Port reached a historic milestone by receiving the Affinity Diva at berth 99, carrying nearly 80,000 tons of fertilizers from China. This marks the most significant single fertilizer shipment ever unloaded at the port, solidifying its position as one of Brazil’s leading fertilizer hubs, catering to the growing demands of the country’s agricultural sector. In 2024, the Port of Itaqui has already handled 3,613,260 tons of fertilizers. Berth 99 hosted the Affinity Diva for a high-productivity operation. Unloading proceeded at an average rate of 500 tons per hour, utilizing shore-based cranes, significantly exceeding the regional average of 300 tons per hour. A key highlight of this operation is the collaboration among the seven clients sharing the vessel’s cargo.
