The Port of Itaqui in Maranhão is the largest port complex in Latin America and plays a crucial role in logistics for Brazil’s Northern Arc, offering faster links to North American and European markets. It exports cereals, ores, and agricultural derivatives from six states, boosting the economy. Annual capacity will increase by over 8 million tons with nine operating berths and an additional berth (Berth 98). Its primary cargo consists of soybeans, corn, cellulose, and copper. Brazil’s agricultural and export sectors depend heavily on its developed network of highways and railways. According to Minister Silvio Costa Filho, the Port of Itaqui enhances the nation’s port infrastructure through strategic public investments, supporting the growth of agribusiness and furthering Brazil’s integration into global markets.
