CSN Mineração plans to invest around BRL 400 million to expand and modernize the TECAR pier at the Port of Itaguaí, according to local authorities. The eight-year project, set to begin in August, is expected to generate about 600 jobs, with priority hiring for residents of Itaguaí. Currently dedicated to iron ore exports, the terminal will see increased operational capacity following the upgrade, potentially boosting cargo throughput and municipal tax revenues. The investment reinforces the port’s role in Brazil’s mining logistics chain and highlights ongoing efforts to modernize bulk export infrastructure.
