INCREASING ETHANOL BLEND TO 35% COULD CUT CO2 EMISSIONS BY 55 MILLION TONS BY 2037, SAYS MME

At the “Agroenergy: Sustainable Energy Transition – Ethanol Edition” seminar, Pietro Mendes, the MME’s National Secretary of Oil, Gas, and Biofuels, defended the increase in the percentage of ethanol in gasoline to 35% (E35), which was approved by President Lula and permitted by the new Fuel of the Future Law (Lei do Combustível do Futuro). Mendes stressed that the step is vital for Brazil’s growth, biofuel leadership, and sustainable energy transition. It could cut CO2 emissions by 55 million tons by 2037. The CNA-sponsored symposium on agriculture and sustainable energy featured corn and sugarcane experts and authorities.
