INCREASE IN DRAFT TO 13.30 METERS BOOSTS OPERATIONAL POTENTIAL AT CATTALINI PIER

Cattalini Terminais Marítimos increased the draft of its external berth in Paranaguá from 13.10 to 13.30 meters, allowing LR1-class vessels to load about 1,500 more tonnes of liquid bulk per ship. The change, approved by port and maritime authorities under Ordinance No. 188/2025/APPA, enables safe reception of vessels up to 229 meters and 70,000 DWT, while the internal berth remains at 12.5 meters for ships of up to 190 meters and 50,000 DWT. The pier also features advanced innovations, including Paranaguá’s first laser-based docking monitoring system with real-time speed and distance data, complemented by traffic-light signals for safe docking. Additional infrastructure includes dolphins, fenders, bollards, and winches. Environmental and meteorological technologies such as the Sismo–Hidromares and Medusa–Argonautica platforms, along with a Navy-approved tide gauge, provide real-time data and forecasts to enhance navigation safety and operational planning.
