IMPROVEMENTS AT THE PORT OF PARANAGUÁ TO INCREASE EXPORTS

The Port of Paranaguá in Paraná plans to raise its operating capacity by 15% in the next years, from 65 million to 75 million tons. Luiz Fernando Garcia, the president of Portos do Paraná, believes that improvements in road and rail infrastructure would help to accelerate growth, particularly the construction of a new railroad capable of unloading 180 wagons simultaneously. Additionally, modifications to the South Network and New Ferroeste are also seen as beneficial. The administration plans to invest BRL 3.5 billion in new initiatives, such as bids and road access upgrades. With BR-277, the port’s only truck access, recovering from landslides, handling is predicted to stay consistent in 2024, with a 12% increase in the first four months of 2023, totaling 21.4 million tons handled.
