IMPORTS THROUGH PARANÁ PORTS GROW 49% IN JULY

In July 2024, Paraná’s ports handled 2,227,392 tonnes of imported goods, a 49% increase from July 2023. Fertilizers led the growth, with imports rising 47% to 918,321 tonnes. Luiz Fernando Garcia, CEO of Portos do Paraná, attributed the surge to attractive commodity prices and a booming agricultural market, making Paraná a key entry point for fertilizer imports in Brazil. Container imports grew by 34%, driven by electronics, chemicals, and automotive products. Petroleum derivatives saw a 70% increase, reaching 465,085 tonnes. From January to July, imports rose by 20%, reflecting a trend of increasing volumes throughout the year. The strong forecast for fertilizer imports is expected to continue, driven by high demand from agricultural producers.
