IMEA REVISES UPWARD CORN PRODUCTION IN MATO GROSSO FOR 2024-25

According to Imea, corn output in Mato Grosso for the 2024-25 harvest has been revised to 54.02 million tons, up 14.52% from the previous cycle and breaking the record set in 2022-23. The average output increased to 126.25 bags per hectare, but planted area remained at 7.13 million hectares, 4.85% greater than the previous harvest. The adjustment was based on visits to 538 crops in 82 municipalities throughout May and June. The southeast saw the highest productivity jump, adding 15.64 bags per hectare, while the northeast was the sole region to see a decline. The mid-north and west regions led in ear count per hectare, whereas the southeast recorded the highest grain weight.
